The question we hear most often isn’t about the artwork at all. It’s about the wall. Will it fit above the sofa? Is 19 × 20 too small for the hallway? Black frame or white?
These are good questions, and they deserve better answers than a tape measure and a guess. Every work in the gallery can now be seen at its true size in a furnished room, on a photo of your own wall, or through your phone’s camera in your own home. Here is how, one step at a time. Each step has a short moving picture beside it, so you can watch before you try.
1. See it in a room, right on the page
Open any piece in the gallery. Beneath the main image, tap View in a Room. The picture becomes a furnished room, with the piece hanging at its true size. Now tap any of the sizes and watch the piece grow or shrink on the wall, so you can see the difference rather than imagine it.
2. Step into the full room view
For a closer look, tap Try It on Your Wall, just below Add to My Collection. Along the bottom you’ll find nine rooms, from living rooms and a dining room to a study, a bedroom and an entry hall. Change the size, frame or mat, and the piece changes with you. A small card in the corner shows exactly which version you’re looking at.
3. Hang two pieces together
Many collectors hang Glen’s works in pairs. Tap Add a Piece and choose any work from the gallery. It hangs beside the first. If the arrangement isn’t quite right, drag the pair to a better spot, and tap a size for the second piece until the two sit in balance.
4. See it clearly, then keep the picture
If the card in the corner feels crowded, tap Hide Label for a clear view of the room. Tap Show Label to bring it back.
When you’ve found an arrangement you love, tap Save or Share. On a computer, the picture saves to your Downloads folder. It includes the room, the work and its details, and a small square code. When family or friends point their phone’s camera at the code, the piece opens on their screen.
5. Turn it in 3D
Tap View in 3D on the page of any piece. Drag to turn it and look at it from the side, or all the way round to the back. Each framed piece ships ready to hang, with a wire across the back for one sturdy picture hook. The small circles in the corner change the colour of the wall behind it.
6. See it on your wall with your phone
On a phone, tap View on Your Wall in the 3D view and point your camera at a wall. The piece appears there at its true size, as if it were already hanging, and you can step closer or back to see how it sits in the room. Lower your phone, and the real wall is still bare. Nothing is hung until you decide.
On a computer, the 3D view shows a small square code. Point your phone’s camera at it, and the piece opens on your phone, ready for View on Your Wall. When two pieces are on the wall, the phone view shows the first piece.
7. Try it on a photo of your own wall
In the room view, tap Use My Wall and choose a photo of your room. Stand back far enough to show the whole wall, and take the photo straight on if you can. The piece appears on your photo, and you can drag it into place.
On your own photo, sizes are approximate. For exact sizing, compare sizes in the styled rooms, which are shown at true scale. Your photo stays on your device and is never uploaded.
8. Share it from your phone
On a phone, Save or Share opens your phone’s own sharing options, with the picture and a link to the piece ready to send. Choose a message or an email, and someone at home can see exactly what you have in mind.
Take your time
There is no rush. Hang a piece in a few rooms, try it at two sizes, and live with the picture for a day or two. If you have a question about a particular work, or aren’t sure which size suits your space, write to us. We read every message.
