One cub stands on a fallen log, tongue out, nose working — the other peers over the edge with the particular cautious curiosity of a young bear encountering bees for the first time. Glen found the comedy in this moment without letting it slip into sentimentality. The watercolour is tight where the cubs' fur catches light, loose and atmospheric in the surrounding vegetation — exactly the kind of contrast that made his wildlife work feel alive rather than illustrated.
Glen spent extended periods observing black bear behaviour in Ontario's boreal forests. He understood that the most compelling wildlife images come not from dramatic confrontations but from the small, specific moments of animal life — a cub discovering something surprising, the way they hold their bodies when uncertain.

Choose one of three edge finishes. A mirrored wrap gives the impression that the work continues around the edge of the canvas. A white edge offers a traditional, untouched finish, and a black edge frames the work with a quiet accent, almost like a shadow.
