Two beavers — one feeding, one stretched up to pull a willow branch closer — caught in the soft light of a summer afternoon, surrounded by fireweed and aspen leaves. Glen made this watercolour at the height of his powers, when his technique was loose enough to feel atmospheric and tight enough to render every individual hair on the beaver's coat.
Of course Canada's national animal would attract him. Glen worked from sketches and observation done over multiple seasons at active beaver lodges in Ontario, where he could watch the small domestic moments — like the one captured here — that nature documentaries rarely catch.

Choose one of three edge finishes. A mirrored wrap gives the impression that the work continues around the edge of the canvas. A white edge offers a traditional, untouched finish, and a black edge frames the work with a quiet accent, almost like a shadow.
