A male Indigo Bunting — that impossible saturated blue — perches below a female on a wild grape vine, the deep blue berries clustering around them, the vine's foliage caught at the turn between summer and early autumn. The male's plumage is rendered with the chromatic discipline this subject demands: Indigo Buntings are not blue in the pigment sense but in the structural sense, and the colour shifts as the angle shifts. Glen caught it in the mid-turn position, the blue at its most intense.
The female above provides the compositional contrast — brown and streaky where the male is saturated, her own quiet beauty apparent once the male stops commanding all the attention.

Choose one of three edge finishes. A mirrored wrap gives the impression that the work continues around the edge of the canvas. A white edge offers a traditional, untouched finish, and a black edge frames the work with a quiet accent, almost like a shadow.
