Fringed Polygala in full bloom — the vivid magenta-pink flowers luminous against the deep green of the surrounding forest floor vegetation. This botanical study is one of Glen's most richly coloured: the Polygala's unusual flower form, with its wing-petals and fringed crest, is rendered with complete accuracy, while the atmospheric blue-green background gives the whole composition a jewel-like intensity.
The Fringed Polygala is one of the most beautiful and least-celebrated wildflowers of the eastern Canadian forest, and Glen gave it the full attention it deserves — treating it with the same seriousness he brought to his large mammal paintings. This botanical work is one of his most vibrant and distinctive pieces.
Each bag is made to order to gallery standards, sturdy enough for everyday use and built to carry the conversation wherever you go.
