# Chicories — Giclée on Paper

Chicory blooms against a soft blue-green field — the petals almost luminous, the overall composition atmospheric rather than botanical, the flowers dissolving at the edges into the haze of a late summer afternoon. This is Glen in a more painterly mode: less interested in the precise anatomy of the individual bloom than in the quality of light in a chicory meadow at a particular time of day.

Chicory was a subject that appealed to Glen's sense of colour — that specific pale blue-violet is one of the most difficult colours to paint convincingly, and he met the challenge with a soft, confident touch that gives this piece its unusual quality. Glen Loates is a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts; his botanical and landscape work is held in collections alongside his celebrated wildlife paintings.

Produced as a museum-quality giclée on archival, acid-free paper using fade-resistant inks. A 1" white border surrounds the image, ready for the framer of your choice.
