# Cedar Waxwings in Blueberry Bush — Giclée on Paper

Two Cedar Waxwings on a blueberry branch — one launching upward with wings fully spread, the other reaching for a fat blue berry, its bill already stained. The composition is all motion and appetite, the birds' sleek crested profiles and yellow-tipped tails absolutely precise against a warm golden background. The blueberries are painted with the same care as the birds — each berry at a different stage of ripeness, the leaves touched by the first turn of autumn.

This is an early work of exceptional quality, and shows Glen's mastery of the subject he returned to most: birds in their habitat, interacting with their food source. Glen Loates is a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts whose bird watercolours have been collected internationally for over five decades.
