# Bald Eagle Head — Giclée on Paper

A close watercolour study — the eagle in profile, beak open in mid-call, every feather around the head rendered to the level of detail Glen was famous for in his bird studies. The soft wash of sky behind the bird leaves no doubt where it belongs. This painting strips everything away except the bird itself, the way Glen often worked when he wanted the viewer to meet an animal eye to eye.

Glen Loates spent years drawing from skin specimens at the Royal Ontario Museum and observing live raptors in the field. That dual discipline — scientific accuracy paired with painterly sensitivity — is why his watercolours of birds carry weight other wildlife art does not. He is a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts; his bald eagle painting was famously presented to U.S. President Reagan in 1983.
