# Moonlit Landscape — Giclée on Paper

A snow-covered landscape under a full moon — the blue-white of moonlit snow, the dark treeline, the sky holding just enough reflected light to distinguish cloud from clear. This is one of Glen's most atmospheric nocturnal works: the challenge of painting a scene where the only light source is reflected light, everything cast in the cool blue-white register that the eye perceives in moonlight.

Glen's night and dusk paintings represent a distinct strand in his landscape practice — the same observed patience applied to a different quality of light. The moonlit snow carries its own palette, and Glen found it with the coloured pencil medium that allows for the slow, layered building of luminosity. Glen Loates is a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts; his atmospheric landscape works are collected alongside his wildlife paintings.
