This is Glen working in pure abstraction of natural form: no animal, no ground, no sky — just the leaves themselves as a compositional subject.

The painting demonstrates Glen's commitment to the full range of natural subjects — the leaves in motion have their own precision and their own beauty, and Glen treated them with the same observational seriousness he brought to his owl and lynx studies.
