# Western Capercaillie — Giclée on Paper

A Western Capercaillie — the largest of the grouse family, a bird of the old Scots and Scandinavian pine forests — painted with the same anatomical precision Glen brought to all his bird subjects. The Capercaillie's extraordinary plumage, with its iridescent green breast, fan tail, and red wattles, is a complex rendering challenge, and Glen met it with the disciplined colour mixing his watercolour technique permitted.

This European species sits outside Glen's Canadian core subjects, but the same methodology applies: careful specimen study, field observation, disciplined rendering. Glen Loates is a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts whose bird work extended well beyond the Canadian species he is best known for.

Produced as a museum-quality giclée on archival, acid-free paper using fade-resistant inks. A 1" white border surrounds the image, ready for the framer of your choice.
