# Crow Flying Over Landscape — Giclée on Paper

A crow in full flight above a winter Ontario landscape — the bird graphite-black against a pale sky, every primary feather splayed and rendered individually, while below it a snow-covered country scene stretches to the horizon: frozen fields, bare woodlots, a farmstead just visible in the middle distance. Two more crows are specks in the far background. This is a graphite drawing of exceptional scale and ambition — the landscape as expansive as anything Glen painted, the crow anatomically meticulous.

The contrast between the bird's precision and the landscape's atmospheric softness is entirely intentional: the crow commands the foreground, the country lies beneath. Glen Loates is a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts; this drawing is one of his most dramatically composed and ambitious works on paper.
