# Cougar Basking — Giclée on Paper

A cougar at rest in tall grass — fully recumbent, paws forward, eyes half-lidded in the heat. This graphite pencil study, dated 1995, shows Glen working in pure drawing: the cougar's form dissolving at the edges into loose gestural marks that suggest grass and heat shimmer without defining them precisely.

Where the Cougar painting demonstrates anatomical power and formal authority, this study demonstrates something rarer — an animal at ease, the predator between hunts, soft in the sun. The graphite allows Glen to suggest mass and heat in the same mark. Glen Loates is a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts; his drawing practice ran parallel to his painting across five decades of work.

Produced as a museum-quality giclée on archival, acid-free paper using fade-resistant inks. A 1" white border surrounds the image, ready for the framer of your choice.
