This watercolour captures Glen's characteristic patience: the stillness of a small animal watching something smaller still, the forest floor quiet around them. This is the unenhanced version of the subject — the original watercolour study without the luminous pastel background of the Enhanced edition. It carries its own distinct quality: the softer, more naturalistic rendering of the scene as Glen first observed it. Glen Loates is a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts; his work has been collected internationally for over five decades.
