The original watercolour study, executed by Glen in his characteristic patient field-style, has here been transformed: Glen returned to the work years later with soft pastel, Chinese white ink, and coloured pencil — applying a luminous green-and-gold background that lifts the figure off the page, and refining the smallest details until every whisker, fern frond, and butterfly wing carries new clarity.
